move MAF = better performance?

Hi all,
I wonder if I, an ordinary guy, will notice any performance improvement if I move the MAF closer to the throttle body (as it is in the Corvette LT1)?
I already got a K&N FIPK gen II which IMHO gave quicker response (and nicer sound as a bonus). Iīm going to replace the baseplate with a puck as well. If not for performance then for more sound, when I lived in Stockholm I drove my -71 vette in the tunnels at night just for the sound experience. Thatīs weird but hey, what ever makes You tick :)
Another MAF-question; is there an easy way to check the calibration of the MAF, like voltmeasuring sensor when at idle or something. I think I put too mush filteroil on the K&N filter and that could affect the MAF even f it gets just a little on the sensor, right?

Good Roadmastering everybody!
(OK ImpalaSS, Fleetwood īnīCaprices too)

Move it wherever you want. No gains at all.

only benefit may be better throttle repsonse. Better gain is to have a straighter intake.
