rwd crx?

My friend says that he wants to get a crx and convert it to rwd. Is this possible? He seems to think it wouldn't be unreasonable to do, but I don't know.

Also, what kind of handling would it have considering it wasn't designed with rwd in mind?

try searching, i know there was a thread about a AWD, i think, Crx about a month ago. Anything is possible, just depends how deep your wallet is.

easest way to do it is moutn the engine in the rear ;) search for the nsx powered rex... ;)

Mmm, nsx engine or s2000 engine. He'd like those ideas. Not sure he'll have anywhere near the cash, but I'll let him know.

no the engine spins opposite of the 4th gen engine, you would have to convert the entire driveline from the motor to the whels for that kinda swap.

you'd have to do that anyway since the s2000 is rwd and mtd. longitudinal ;)

Or he could just buy a S2000...he's going to spend the same amout either way.

Yeah, I think the idea of him getting an s2000 is more ridiculous than the drag crx above. He doesn't have anywhere near that money. He was thinking something cheep to put some cash into as he went. But at least I can get him to drool a little.

And here is a littles something to spark your interest. I an not sure, but I have a feeling that they used the differental off a CRV to do this.

At work, one the guys is looking at swaping a crv engine, trans, and four wheel drive setup onto a 5 gen civic coupe. We have been taking measurments and almost evrything will line up. It is gonna kick ass!!

I was reading (go fig.) the latest copy of Honda Tunning and they did a RWD conversion on a hatch. Check it out it may give a starting point.

Thanks, I'll pick up the Honda Tuning issue and check it out. I'm pretty sure he'll want to rear moun the thing from what I've heard. Not sure if that's how the mag did the hatch, but it will be a nice reference point.

Just because Motegi makes wheels doesn't mean they can't own a drag crx, or a drag car of any kind. it's called advertising... companies tend to do it sometimes.

one thing i have been considering is a AWD swap from a wagon onto my 4 door. from the material i have read, the wheelbase is the same size, with the same suspension setups in both cars.

one problem i thought of was fitting the rear drive axles somewhere underneath the car.

another is that the AWD drive system from the wagon is weak as shit, and could probably only take about 125hp before it just craps out.
