I am going to change my fuel filter and wanted to see if anyone had any tips before I start. I think it is pretty straight forward.

Thanks,

Fin

Correct try and run the engine, pull the fuse to drop the pressure down, if one end of the line is threaded and rusty, soak it first.

so if I remove the fuse first, that will decrease the pressure in the fuel line?

Thanks,

Remove the fuse engine running, it will die, then no FP.

Hi, I'm new to AF. Sorry if I'm adding more questions to your post CRF but I thought you could benefit from knowing the answer to my questions.

I have a 2000 Yukon SLT 4X4 5.3 engine with 115K Miles. I hate to say that I have neglected to change my fuel filter and need to change it for the first time. I know where it is and can do it myself. I'm going to AutoZone/Kragen to get a new filter but am wondering if i need to buy a special tool for this, or will just a pair of wrenches do the trick.

Also Fuel gauge is not accurate and is all over the place when tank is above half which means the fuel level sensor is bad, but fuel pump doesn't make any noise and vehicle runs great. I could live with the gauge but does anyone think I need to change the pump.
