Last summer I changed gears in the Chevelle. When I was trying to break the pinion nut free, I picked enough weight off the the car to shove it sideways on the jack stands. That picked up one whole side of the jack stands off the ground. (two legs on both stands) When I run out of strength and let go it slammed back. (I was watching my hand so not to bust my knuckles, not watching the stands) Thats when I realized what almost happened. (I know...wasn't thinking..)
I done it nearly the exact same way I done the new LSD in the IROC and didn't have that problem, so I wasn't thinking.....
Thats my almost getting crushed by a car story.

I jack the Z up too high for my LT's install. Long story short, it leaned on the stands and almost went over on its side. Scary shit. Lucky, no one was under it.

i swapped and axle on a car my mate had (a little Peugeot 106) and it was on the lift a work, i'd taken the old axle out the back and saw the car was only sitting on three of the lift's pads. it was a light car, so i just lifted the back end right off both pads by the spare wheel well, and wound up the pad that wasn't touching.
when i was at college my mate had jacked a car up and put it on stands to work on it. when he was done he jacked it up and took the stands out, yet managed to pull one out from under the axle and left it under the floorpan. then he dropped it down and it went straight through the floor and ended up with the end of it sticking through the rear seat footwell.

Well I know I shared before, but will again. Starter bolt brok on my first Camaro. I am pretty well a safety freak which at times in the shop got on everyone else's nerves taking "too long" to load a vehicle up on the lifts or stands and stopping people to reset the vehicle when I was on foreman duty.
So anywho, my father in law and I are taking turns slowly walking the bolt out (yep it was the loooong one :cya: ) and I was on break while he took his turn. So I'm sitting there and get to hearing this light creaking noise. Thought it was the garage swaying a bit. Then I heard it again and realized it was IN the garage. As I slowly inch my ear towards the stand, it becomes apparent that there is no question it's the car slipping off the stand.
So I tap my father in law, and tell him to get out of there. Now at the time he had to be atleast 270 but man did he move. No sooner than he got out, WHAMMO cars on the floor and the standard 3rd gen hood prop (baseball bat) flyes out as the car slams down, right over our heads and out the garage wall.
New one is last night, oddly after posting this. I go out to move our stupid Taurass for snow removal and hear hissing from the Toyota, yep screw in the tire tread :( So 3 inches of snow on top of ice on the garage apron made it a interesting experience as with every pump of the jack, the car went sliding the other way. :(

when i was at school, i was using a drill press, and was putting a drill bit in the chuck (so was holding the chuck key, in the chuck) and someone turned the drill on, and it ripped my finger open and nearly brokemy wrist. then when i was asking my teacher if i could go see the nurse she got pissed and shouted at me for interrupting her. until she saw the blood..
not quite the same as getting squashed by a falling car, but it hurt.
