The five dollar bottle found at gas stations and Wal-Mart. Does it work, and if so how well? My friend says he puts some in his truck when he tows something, and he swears he notices an increase in performance, slight though it may be.

I dont put much stock in octain booster. Bye regular higher octain fuel and then your running it all the time.
Run the proper ammount of seafoam ( http://www.seafoamsales.com/motorTuneUpTechGas.htm )through your fuel tank, that will increase performance. Cleans everything out real well.

First, more octane = less power if everything else is equal. However your car requires premium, so don't go and start using 87 octane
Second, lots of those things raise your octane something like 6-10 points. Well it takes 10 points to move up one octane rating at the pump. So if you were to buy 87 octane and put in the additive you would then be at 87.6-88

I use some in my N/A every once in a while. It isn't my imagination, but my car does seem a little peppier.

SOHC can run on 87, DOHC says right on the gauge cluster "premium unleaded fuel only". That means 93 or 94.
No, it is your imagination, unless you aren't putting in premium gas to begin with, then you may see a small difference. However, it is not as much of a difference as if you were to just put premium fuel in the tank in the first place.

Octane booster will not even drive you up one point. It's a waste of money. Just put the fuel that is recommended by the manufacture in your car.
