We just bought a '97 Suzuki Sport SideKick 4WD 4 Door 1.8 L 4 cyl DOHC engine
with 112,000 miles on it for $3,300.
It had been in some kind of fenderbender because the Divers Side Door seam
does not meet by 1 inch in the front and the crossbar which the Radiator is
bolted to has a kink in it. It is wine colored.
I was told it had been repainted and the plastic grill in front replaced.
The front bumper is cracked a bit.
However, the car looks in great shape, drives well at 65, interior is excellent.
The Tires are NEW winter type A/T - knobby.
Has Oregon plates being sold here in Spokane, WA.
A cracked windshield is to be replaced by the car dealer tomorrow morning at some
local Car Glass place (GlassCo).

Is there anyone who can tell me the model from the pictures.
Specifically - I see JX and JLX models - ????? They look identical.
Are the plugs hard to replace?
Is this DOHC engine timing belted or dual chains?
What kind of mpg can I expect from moderate driving?

This Sport Sidekick is the 1.8 Liter 4WD job.
Is it Two Chains for the timing?
I suppose it is also an Interference Engine....
Interesting - that reinforcement bar across the engine compartment!
I want to change the spark plugs, too. Are they hard to get at?
I changed the oil & filter right away (yesterday) - 6 quarts!
Also - notice the crumpled Radiator Support just in front of the Power
Steering Pump at the bottom left...

I recently purchased a '97 Suzuki Sport Sidekick with the 1.8 L 4 cylinder engine
in it.
Is that exactly the same engine as in our '99 1.8 L SUZUKI ESTEEM ?
