1996 mustang gt speedometer

I replaced the plastic gear on the speed sensor first because it had some damaged teeth on it. That didn't fix the problem ether; so I then replaced the speed sensor, that didn't help solve the problem either. I get no reading on the speedomoter or the odometer. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have to fix this problem.

The plastic gear in the tranny may be bad, not the one on the cable.
