Are Nology Wires really worth the $150?

I mean Come on. How can a company charge $150 just for spark plug wires? Just cuz they're the most expensive doesn't mean they're the best out there on the market. But, just out of curiosity why are Nology wires so much more expensive than regular wires? All plug wires really do is carry spark to the plugs from the distributor cap. How can a company actually advertise 2-5% HP gains just off plug wires. Someone out there please cleare this up for me.

Companies always advertise hp gains on heavy modded cars. That is where they usually get the ridiculous numbers. I wouldn't be in any big hurry to get performance wires until you get that turbo in. Then its more of a neccessity. You won't see a hp increase on your current set up, I know a kid that has the nology wires and plugs and didnt get shit out of it.

dont worry about more spark until you need to burn more gas. you arent going to get much gains on the stock parts. you want to upgrade the fuel system before you will need better spark in there...and you wont need new fuel system until you upgrade the motor...or turbo it. a better spark on an all factory motor might give you a couple hp's but it isnt worth a buck fifty.

Honda's OEM ignition systems are a cut above the rest, when it comes down to things like this. I was told by peeps not to waste any $$$$ on the system, after having the sc installed. A well maintained OEM system will kick out around 40K volts as is.
Best thing is just stick with Honda parts, even then you yor really don't need to change anything. Unless your going to be doing some really high boosting. Otherwise, it's just eye candy rather then a performance gain... hehehe

Let me speak on this because I own Nology Wires. I would not worry about wires right now unless you want to sprice up your engine bay. I do like the Nology Wires and I did notice a diffrence after I put them on with the Nology Pro Coil. After I put those on the VTEC felt much better and I got a Fat Power Band After 4k rpms. I Would not worry about it until you get more mods put onto the car. Here is what it looks like in my engine bay.

plug wires with ground straps are notorius for creating electrical eddies and creating interference on modern ignition systems.
the only wires i have seen that are worth two shits are magnecors, and those are the only ones.

Must not apply to mine because mine are working great.

I'm sorry, but unless your pumping out way more horse's than the stock system is made for, then yes they are a waste of money.Hondas electrical systems are some of the best in the industry and are good for a lot more than the stock hp the motors put out.

It's not really the amount of horse power you are putting out that is going to require an Electrical upgrade it is if you have a setup that is going to require it. In the next couple months I will have a setup that is going to need it because I will be raiseing the compression to an 11:1 and I am going to be using a higher octane fuel. I am still going to be putting out lower horse but I am going to be needing a stronger better spark with the higher octane fuel. I might as well doing the ignition upgrades now and get it out of the way. I am running an aftermarket coil as well I took my stock coil out. I am also running the Nology Pro Coil and with that done I did notice a way larger power band after 4000 rpm's and the VTEC engaugment is a lot stronger. If you get an aftermarket coil and some wires you will notice a diffrence as well. I do have the timing advance so maybe it is just the way I have my car tuned that I notice a diffrence with the Ignition upgrades.
