Scale Productions Porsche Cayman GT

This is the Fujimi Cayman w/the Scale Productions transkit for the Cayman GT. Color scheme was inspired by the '08 Porsche GT3 RS. Originally intended to be a race car for an ACME Cayman GT group build (everyone picks a Porsche livery and makes it a "fantasy racer"), I felt it looked too good as a street car so I'm looking for a vintage livery for my next Cayman GT.

Paint is Tamiya gloss aluminum, orange was custom mixed to match my custom decals, roll bar modified from a Revell Subaru WRX.

This is an entirely different looking beast than my recent "heritage" Cayman, and I like 'em both.

Looks great.

I very much like your decals on the side skirts?

A question if I may. The rear wing struts seem to have the "GT" etched through?

That's cause it's a cayman GT, duh! :grinyes:

And Bob, I have to say I really like the color combination, never thought brown-beige would look good on silver! Brilliant! Also the roll bar is a sweet addition... You got me a bit jealous! thanks for sharing, mister

Wohoo, nice execution. The rear wheels could be a little bigger, donīt you agree? They fill the wheel housing a little better!

Thanks for the comments! The orange is a bit subdued vs. the GT3 RS, mainly because I screwed up when printing the decals; I forgot to print a white base layer under the orange so they're a bit tranlucent and therefore appear a bit dark on the silver paint. I was on the fence about printing another set, but they looked good on the car as-is, Veyron agreed when he saw the car in person, so I decided to darken the orange a bit for the painted parts to match the stripes. If I were building the car again I'd go w/the brighter orange, but I like this result nearly as much. When I saw a silver/orange GT3 RS in person at Rennsport Reunion III I was surprised, it doesn't sound good but it looks spectacular in person.

Looks fantastic, Bob. Personally I'd have gone for the black/orange or orange/black combinations (both!), but yours works really well on the Cayman.

Thanks, I was all ready to do a lime green one w/black stripes when I saw the silver/orange. It was great to be able to see all 4 of the GT3 RS colors in person at the Rennsport Reunion III. I may do the lime green as a race car. I really wish some company would do the 997 GT2/GT3 in kit form. I know of the 1/24 AUTOart 997 Carrera slot car (they look nice), and they're doing 996 GT3 RS/GT2 and Turbo.

As ever, a terrific looking build. The 'faded' orange actually makes for a nice effect- it makes the silver look somewhat like faded blue (at least in your pics above), and that seems to suggest the classic Gulf Porsche scheme.

That really turned out nice!!! I personally prefer the bright orange like the 1:1 car you posted, but the paint matches your custom printed decals perfectly. Did those wheels come with the transkit?

I hope we will be seeing pics of your friend's gulf Porsche?

I second that!! I've not seen the silver/orange on a 1:1 RS before - I think my fave is the black with orange stripes!

Really love your two Caymans (Caymen??!!), The GT is spectacular & looks really good, but the 'heritage' car is simply tremendous!! I'd love to see a full size one of those!

I'm in the middle of doing a Cayman RS - but it's currently in the brake fluid bath for the second time. Hope it turns out half as nice as yours when I can finally get it done!
