Xterra vs. Wrangler?

i would have to say the xterra just cause its inclosed and the windows are glass not plastic.... but witch one would perform better off road? and witch one do you think is better?

Xterra just for the fact that their different than all the other suvs. No disrespect to jeep owners, but their pretty played out. A classic, but still...

Well there are no absolutes, but for the most part a Wrangler will spank an Xterra off-road except in places where its short wheelbase is an issue. Now, a Wrangler Rubicon, well, there's no question there ;)

The basic wrangler is about the same to an Xterra stock. The Rubicon is a whole different story, it will drive rings around a stock Xterra. Any Jeep has much more aftermarket support to improve its offroad capabilities. So if this is the only area you are considering go with a Jeep. If you worry about creature comforts, more space and reliability the Xterra should be a lot better fit.

I lifted my girlfriend's XJ for Xmas and this weekend was the first chance we had to take it out. For half the money of my Xterra lift we got an inch and a half more lift, double the flex and several inches better ground clearance. Once her confidence is worked up, she will be kicking my ass.

not that i don't love my X but are you kidding me;) we would be only lying to ourselves if we said a xterra could outperform a wrangler, now with some upgrades we can keep up with them, but one thing we have on them is our trucks are not made of jeep parts which means they will probably last longer, my brother in law works as the part mgr in Boone, n.c. jeep and he owns two of them and he admits that jeeps break down way to much. don't worry about it just go have some fun it's not like you're going to tellico in it :D

Few things I've encountered while offroading have made me wish I had another vehicle besides my Xterra. Outperform is relative. My truck takes me where I want to do, does what I want it to do, and frankly has surprised many hardcores who think it's another grocery getter. Yes another vehicle could do more, but I don't need it for my lifestyle.

true, im not doing much rock crawling down here in florida, and my x takes me where i want to go, but to see those wranglers going into the muck of ocala national forest is something else. but on the otherhand they are using big boggers on a lot of them, i guess it's all relevant to where you live or where you go wheelin and the amount of experience of the driver, im just saying a stock 4wd x versus a stock 4wd wrangler and the wrangler could do a lot more off the showroom floor, but don't get me wrong, i will never own a jeep, i love my xterra way to much. ;)
