Radio display

'96 Grand Am- (the one in my profile that I'm racing next year ;), I figure it's close enough, nobody's in the Beretta forum, and I really don't think it's vehicle specific anyway)

Has auto-lights. Either the DRL or low beams are on ALWAYS (:banghead: ). When only the DRLs are on (dash lights off) the display on the radio works fine. When the headlights and dash lights come on, the radio display shuts off completely. The radio still works normal, just no display. When I bought the car, it had a cheap walmart brand deck in it. I went over a railroad track way too fast on day, and when I hit the ground again the radio shut off and the display never worked again. I had an old GM factory radio in my garage which I installed. It worked great for a few days and then started having the display shut off when it should dim for night-time driving. Are these two failures related? I thought the display dimed when it got a voltage from the lights circuit. All the fuses are good... I really don't need it fixed (I'll be striping the car for the track in a couple weeks anyway), I'm just curious why two decks went out in the same car in the same week.

Sounds like a wire come loose.

Or it could be jsut the crap Delco radio is dying.
They are nothing but trouble even on the 99+.
No wonder they closed the delco plant in Indiana!
