The ABS brake light on instrument panel was on for a long time. Instead of the expense of replacing the ABS control unit I just ignored the light. The light evidently burned out because it is not on any more. Now the red brake warning light is on all the time but the brakes feel fine. Parking brake switch is newly replaced.
If the ABS light burns out does the Red brake light take over?

Red and yellow are two seperate lights.
If the red light is on and is not being turned on by the emg brake light you need to check the base brake system before you lose your brakes.
On the yellow light even if it is out you need to get it on a ABS capable scanner and find the problem on abs brakes and get the codes.
Post back codes.
Some of them you can lose your brakes if the abs pump motor fails.

After posting this message I tried disconnecting the connector to the combination/proportional valve but the light still comes on. Would there be any other connector/sensing device to check. It seems that if you eliminate both the emg brake switch and the combo valve switch the light would go off.

Check for ABS codes with a abs capable scanner.
