I have a 98 Bravada, it has been either shifting hard into 2nd or taking a few seconds to get to the next gear. But, today I was driving it and out of nowhere I hit the gas and nothing. I stopped and tried reverse, low 1,2 and 3rd still nothing. I'm a single dad with two children and need to keep costs low. Thanks for taking the time to help us out.

:banghead: My awd hasn't worked since I bought it for $3500.00. It started hard shifting into 2nd gear. Then a few seconds getting into other gears. While I was driving it the drive stopped working @ all. No matter what gear I put it in By the way it's automatic. Some threads I saw are saying it's a dirty filter and burnt fluid. The mechanic I took it to told me the first thing he did is checked the fluid and it smelled burnt. So any further help would be great. I'm a single dad of two money is tight.

Welcome to AF
It is best to start a New Thread/Post on your problem.

From you have described your transmissio is about gone.
Did the mechanic check the fluid level or transmission filter?
Check the fluid level when warm/hot.
Pull the pan and check filter and for extra stuff in the pan.
The 98 is a computer controled transmission and needs put on a transmission capable scanner to test it out and get codes.
If any codes post back code no.

I agree with MT, this sounds like your trans is in not to good of shape. When it bangs into 2nd, its usually an indication that the PCM is commanding max line pressure as a result of the transmission fault the PCM has found. Pull the codes and see what you have. If you have been driving it like this for awhile (hard 1-2 shift) and if it has a dark, burnt fluid, its not a good indication for you trans.
