Starting problems

Ok heres what happend...
1990 caprice 9c1.. 137,000 mls. TBI.
I have been having problems starting this car lately. Its been a cold winter in ohio but this started in a cold day in dec. I went to work and car ran fine, about 12 hours later this thing would not start. I tried starting fluid and it would not work. Two days later I went to have it towed to my house, and the boss showed up.. the car spitted and sputtered , but finally did start.. I drove to my fathers and the car started fine every day. A week later brought it home, and the same thing. this time the battery died trying to start it. the next day I jumped it and put a shot of fluid in the TBI and the damn thin fired like a rocket. I put her in the garage and now the same thing. I tied to start it and she wouldnt.. battery died I charged her and today as I was going to replace the ECM, I decied to give her a chance.. She tried and after some spitting and sputtering and a little backfiring.. she finally started ...
I have no clue where to start on this thing... Any ideas ????
