Hi Folks,
I just had my transmission fluid changed and at Advanced they sold me the Wrong gasket/filter combination. My question is, is the FIlter the same for both the vulcon and the Deratic?? He used the filter that came with the wrong gasket.
I wouldn't think ford would go to the trouble to make two different filters BUT??
Thanks for any help!!

The filter will be specific to the transmission rather than the engine. What I'm not sure about is if the Duratec always has a different transmission than the Vulcan, etc. There are others on this forum that will hopefully chime in with that answer. My generic answer would be that if the filter fit in properly, it is probably the correct filter.

there are two filters
One for the AX4N
One for the AX4S
One has green ring on the neck where it shoves up in the tranny and one has an orange ring on the neck.
One filter is longer than the other and if the short one is put in the wrong one it could have trouble picking oil up on an incline or under cornering or acceleration.
Is that perfectly clear ?
Cliffs
There is a difference.
If the wrong one is put in it could cause problems.
Make the guy put the right one in.

Thanks Rod and Mike.\
Sounds carzy but the trans filter that came with the wrong gasket DID have a "LIME GREEN" hard plastic type ring around the round part that goes into the trans so maybe the company got the wrong gasket with the right filter??
Thanks once again for your imputs !!!!

Well, I just HAD to ease my mind so I went to Advance Auto Parts to see BOTH the vulcon and Duretic trans filters and to my suprise, BOTH engines use the same filter ( different gaskets now) but are in different directions from one engine to the other. Both have green tips that go into the trans.
Now I feel a LOT better !!
Thanks again to Ron and Mike for there replys and help!!
