I'm planning on getting around the 300 awhp. my clutch kit i was thinking about was either the southbend or the ACTs. which would you guys suggest? my clutch is kind of slipping right now.
my mods are:
-E316g
-ported 2g ex manifold
-ported o2
-3" exhaust system
-fmic
-550cc
-190 fuel pump
-s-afc tuned
-ported head valves (last owner did that one)

Both good choices IMO, top of my list for sure. Another you might want to consider is the Zoom clutches, they are just rebrands of Fidanza's and IIRC about $50 cheaper. I'd get a ACT 2600 or equivalent of the rest of the brands, I cant recall for sure on the others.

Since you are in MN, you might want to check out www.maperformance.com (http://www.maperformance.com), they are based in Plymouth I think and they are the nicest dudes around to deal with, plus they are one of the cheapest.

thanks man. i also dont want a heavy pedal feel, i remember my cousin had the 2600 on his talon and it was hard as hell. i was thinking about the 2600 though because the 2100 right now that i have on right now doesnt seem to catch hard off the line. will the flywheel make the pedal feel lighter btw??

Nope, no way I can see anyway. I've got a 2100 too, its shit IMO. Even my basically stock car makes that disk slip. I'd worry less about it if it had a spung and pucked clutch, but I am not a fan of the street disk.

The 2600 is definately a heavy pedal. it's very stiff. If you plan to be launching a lot I'd get the heavier clutch.

Just get a sprung pucked disc, it'll hold up fine. And come on now guys, clutches arent too stiff, legs are just too weak ;).

Isn't it really the pressure plates fingers that make the pedal feel stiff ? Not the disc itself.

Yes, The fingers are what determine the pressure plate clamping force. I dont really have anything against ACT but the reason I dont like their clutches is because all they do is give you an organic disc and a heavy ass pressure plate and call it a better clutch.

If you choose to run a zoom stage 2 clutch, you would get a slightly heavier pressure plate over stock but a kevlar padel disc. Zoom uses the disc facing to determine how aggressive a clutch is. If you run a kevlar disc the pedal will be almost stock feeling, you will get smooth engagements, and probable the best fact about it is that you cant burn a kevlar disc up. Even on the ACT clutches if you happen to slip the clutch to much off the line it will toast the disc. With kevlar if you slip it to much and create enough heat the disc WILL slip, but once it cools down it will go back to normal. This is where the difference lies between the two different set ups.

I know my opinion is biased since I have connections with zoom, but Im trying to just give the facts and let you decide what you need more.

Also Dustin, Fidanza clutches are taken from zoom clutches. Zoom actually makes all of them, but the ones that are for fidanza to sell they paint the pressure plate black.
