Sounds that way, that dude dumped his GTP. I feel sorry for him. Try copying your URL which may say...C/mydocuments/pictures.............so on. Then past in in the URL space and click ok. Once the website AF gives you for the picture, You copy and past once again. You will see the IMG botton at the top were you post. Past that link in there and you will have a picture or should have one when you submit your reply.

finally!!! The badges have all been changed with white ones, although one is still red in that pic. The rims are a matter of personal preference i guess. So what you guys think

What do you guys think that a GTP would do to a 6 cylinder Stang? The new models of course. Just curious.

grandprix92
03-23-2003, 01:04 PM
depends on the ci's of the stang. the new GTP has a supercharged 3.8L V-6 i believe. i think they both should weigh the same. pretty damn close.

pontiactrac
03-23-2003, 01:47 PM
The new model gtp or even old one for that matter would burn a v6 mustang. Wouldn't be close especially with the new GTP with 260hp. The reason i could come to this conclusion is that a gt is 200hp while the mustang v6 is only 193hp (new), that would come down to the driver, but with the extra power of the GTP, the v6 mustang wouldn't stand a chance. Plus, not to many people fear v6 mustangs anyway. By the way, both 3.8 liters

grandprix92

however, the GTP is at a disadvantage with an FF drivetrain whereas the stang has an FR. still though, with identical dricers, the GTP would blow away the stang.

the GTP would blow away the stang.

Hell Yeah! You better believe it.;)

The drivetrain is an advantage to the Mustang, and possible more performance oriented gearing, but still the GTP would win, almost reguardless of the driver. It's only a mustang v6, but Mustang GT, forget about the GTP... Unless you had some work done or somethin.

Im not really familiar with mitsu's that much, and not sure what OWN3D is, but if someone has time to kill for some research or knows what either a red Capital "R" on a Galant is or OWN3D, please share. It's a possiblility it was a scare badge or something though...

Sorry, I don't have any good race stories for you, Pontiactrac, but I wanted to ask what type of muffler is on your car, and also, what setup of pipe( reg. duals, duals w/X-pipe, duals w/H-pipe). I wanted to know if you were satisfied with the sound of yours, and if so, what it was equipped with. Thats about it.

Thanks

Tell ya the truth, my exhaust is completely stock exept for the ubend exchange. The dual exhaust is the H configuration since near the mufflers there is one last exhaust cross. I was really into getting some nice exhaust system on my car, but all i could've afforded at the time was the straight pipe replacing the bend. I still have the resonator since Scott 02 sent me some clips without the resonator when ur exhaust is mostly stock and it sounded pretty bad. So as far as the sound of mine with the straight pipe, i would say it sound pretty good. I know that since you own a mustang, you probably are more into a much louder sound than grand prix's usually emit. I would define mine's sound as a deep throaty sound, which is hard to hear at an idle, but give it power and you will def. hear it. I would probably be more satisfied with custom mufflers, but when i get my ram air hood with intake, it should be louder through the engine block which would satisfy me even more. You should also ask Scott 02, i think he got some nice exhaust on his GP.

Heck yeah I got a nice exhaust. Loudest Grand Prix in town! That right 450HPviper? I might have said somewere along the line about what kind of exhaust is under my car. I wanted to run duels straight back, but found that there were not headers out there that would let me do it and also im pretty sure there was not room under the car. So what I did was, Took U-Bend off and replaced it with straight pipe. Had Resonator Removed and replaced with straight pipe. Took both stock mufflers off and replaced them with 18inch long Big Wazoos. I didn't need a special pipe made to do the replace the mufflers with tips. You can weld them on to the pipe right off the Y. Im going to post pictures of it to show what Im talking about. I heard from many people its very loud, but sounds awsome. Don't be affraid to try this. The key was to put big tips on it to make the sound roar not sound like a bee. I might have a better flow CAT put on this summer, not sure yet. Right now it still has the stock CAT. Any questions contact me through PM.

I've got to chime in here, lot's of talk about GP, GTP's and such. I own both a 94 GTP stock 3.4L, which I thought it was relatively quick till I got a 98 GTP 3.8L, supercharged, chipped, borla exhaust. I have driven 3.8L GT's, and although the 3.8 is a good motor and pretty peppy, the supercharged version is like night and day.

You said that the supercharger is peppy, but I think that it wears on your engine too much. Do you guys know if they make a turbocharger for 3.8L?
If someone does, please post something on it, because they cause very little wear.:sun:

Iv'e heard the opposite, that turbos are the worse stain that you can do to your engine, superchargers arn't all the bad, just worsens gas mileage.

A turbo charger uses hot exhaust to turn the turbo unit, and a supercharger is a belt drivin unit, directly on the intake. Supercharger give's immetiate power resonse while a turbo charger has a very noticeable lag before the power developes. Also generally a supercharged engine, such as a GTP will use premium fuel, which is slightly more oily needed for the higher compression it runs under. A desiel on the other hand is more effiecent with a turbo charger as it runs with much higher compression creating more exhaust gasses to run the turbo.
I've found about a 2 mpg difference between my mileage and a normally asperated GT 3.8L. I feel that's a pretty marginal loss for an increase of 40hp, and 55lb.-ft of torque. Add a filter and an exhaust and your miliage is right back up there, while still adding another 25-35hp.
In short, I don't feel either system will cause "additional" wear on your engine if it is tuned properly. As the compression from either setup obviously increases, as the extra boost developes, the fuel delivery system must richen the intake mixture so as to not lean out your engine. Fuel is also somewhat of a lubricant as it enter's your cylinders.

I know in my GTP I can take on a 5.0 mustang......
yah sounds like a lie, and a little luck, but I won both times.....
I think the problem was the driver, because it suprized the hell out of me that I beat him.

I also met up with a 2003 GP GT and by 1/4 mi I had him by 10-15 car lengths, after that I let off the petal, and waited for him to catch up...

and to answer the speculation earlier, no a GTP can't hang with a Mustang GT

I have a 2000 GTP no mods, but will soon have a cold air intake, and a 3.0 pully for the supercharger

my friend just bought an 05 scion fully loaded. he keeps saying that this new car unlike his old sunfire can finally whoop my gt. the only reason i have any doubt is because he is saying that his scion is 190 horses instead of the stock 160. i have talked to some other scion owners and they said that he is full of crap and that my gt should stomp his. what do you guys think?
