You're the first one

I'll take inspiration from your thread as I also have these 2 kits, don't hesitate to mention where are the fitment problems, it will certainly help a lot of modelers ;)

UGH!!! You've got to be kidding me Fujimi!!!!!!!! Bad bad move with the indent on the grille. But great job on the new, more realistic brake system. Good luck with these:)

Which indent?

For the numberplate?

He's preturbed because the US versions of the Golf don't have an indent for a number plate. For a US version one will have to fill that area before building.

Sorry. Bob is correct. It's odd they would make them EDM and not general market, or at least flat so it can be from anywhere.

I wonder what their next release will be....maybe a Fahrenheit orange molded GTI? Or maybe a GTI cup car....;)

Yea...But I would've hoped Fujimi to make it for their own market. Still, I can't wait to get these! They look great.

Great job so far, I also started my GTI just wait for the upgrade parts (hopefully coming out soon!). Keep us posted!

Then it would've had the smooth front end but a LHD dash. Filling the hole for the plate was a lot easier than converting the dash would've been. Hooray for small favors.

That was awesomely quick. I can only see minor flaws (right side bodypanel and the rim seems to be littl fuzzy around the edges), but besides that...great work, that white look great.

wow, so the brake rotor actually moves? The only way that could get better it that the rotor has some kind of cross drill patern, so you can tell easier that they are moving.

this is the best fujimi I have ever seen...great job

Does it have any fitment problems?

I will plan to buy one.

Yes... Totally agree this is the best kit I never have... I hope fujimi will do the same for others..... specially the brake kit design....

Very nice job you done! As for the red stripe on the grille, try using a red paint marker pen - this is what I want to do (can't find red one :banghead: at the moment) with mine.

Nice car and clean build. Great choice for the colour. Try to mask front grill and airbrust it, maybe it will work.

BTW: I heard the R32 got an engine? Does it?

jelly_wilson
02-26-2008, 08:28 PM
Sorry no engine at R32... but the sport seat and the wheels are so nice... I will post more ASAP....

Hi,

quick and nice built.

What makes me a little frown is how high the model sits.

On jelly_wilson´s model I think is ok, what he did, not much possibilities to place the (front-) wheels deeper in the wheel wells.

It seems to be a problem of the kit, especially the front sits rather high.

What´s your opinion?

My opinion is that I looked at photos of the real car and the ride height of the model looks spot on. Perhaps we're growing too accustomed to seeing so many modified models, especially on this forum, with lowered ride height and bigger diameter wheels/tires than stock? I don't see why one couldn't attach the brakes to the wheels and reconfigure how they attach to the suspension so that the ride height can be modified. I certainly had to do that w/my Cayman GT, the stock ride height on it was comical! I don't think it'll be running Dakar any time soon...

I agree with ZZ here...

the rims and wheels on the kit seem to be what fuj calls 'inchi up', a bit bigger then stock, but looking just right in scale, to the detriment of a slightly higher ground clearance.

Looking at my golf with crappy 15 inchers, the ride height is already pretty high indeed. It's only logical if you increase rim diameter that the wells will be filled and the ride height will stay more or less the same, yet realistic.

Nice model btw, jelly, try to pay a little more attention to details and it'll be a show-stopper.

Fujimi is really impressing me with the new kits they've been putting out for a year os so now. It's like their quality and detailing has jumped WAY up. These kits look great! And you're doing an excelent job on them. I think the ride hight looks just fine fo a stock Golf (rabbit). Doesn't look like it could be lowered much more without modifying the wheel wells.

Nice job on the R32 too! I also progressed with my twins, painted the GTI red, the R32 is going to be blue just like yours! Can't wait to see both of yours finished! :grinyes:

but a little bit problem is that the VW decals in front bumper is a little small......

For the R32 where did you get the colour, the vw name is deep-blue-pearl, did you mix it or is it an off the shelf colour?

I have the GTi and 2 R32's on the way from hlj. Your ride height is not too bad as I have a real Mkv GTi and its not far off what I have. I dont think the suspension on the model can be modified easliy from what I have seen.

Great and fast builds.

So is there any word on someone like CrazyModeler or anyone not Acu-Stion putting out a PE set for this car? The kit is great but the decals for the VW logos are just... not going to cut it. A Tamiya or CM style adhesive backed metal transfer set would be ideal. Any word?

It's tough to drop but here's my quick fix.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/sbvwfanatic/Wheels/HOBBIES/hobbies031.jpg?t=1205385049
I trimmed the top of the strut w/razor saw, then drilled into the top of the strut and inserted copper stock as a new guide-pin
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/sbvwfanatic/Wheels/HOBBIES/mkvfrntlwr.jpg?t=1205385194
For the front, I filed the lip that the shock mount sits in,(red arrow), then filpped the shock mount, (second red arrow)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v334/sbvwfanatic/Wheels/HOBBIES/mkvfrntlwr2.jpg?t=1205385303
I'll have to add shims to the bottom of the rear shocks,(no photos yet) but I'm happy w/the drop.
