In need of some advice!!!!!!!!

ok i got a 2001 grand cherokee i replaced head gasket got it all back together and started right up. However, it astarted to leak oil out of the driver side exhaust manifold and it ran a little ruogh. then it started to make lifter noiseon the driverside then it started on the pass. side then it quit and it wouldnt start back up. What in the hell happend did it drop a lifter or the hydraulic valves stuck. i just dont understand cause i followed the book to a T on removal and reinstallation. any and all help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!
