Code P0456

2002 Chrysler T&C 3.8 v-6
It threw a code today and the check engine light is on. The codes are p1684 (battery has been disconnected) and code P0456 (the "gas cap" code).
I've read through the posts and see what item I need to check in regards to p0456.
Will the check engine light automatically go out when the problem with P0456 is corrected or does it need to be reset? If I need to reset it, is the only way to do that with a scanner?

If You Disconnect The Batttery And Leave It Off For A Few Seconds All Codes Should Erase!
