How do I check 2002 Sebring blower motor

I replaced the blower motor resistor resistor 6 months ago but it blew again. The dealer gave me a replacement at no cost but told me that the blower motor should be checked. I want to do this before I install the new resistor, but what do I need to check for, and how do I do it.
