cooling system/overheating

i have a 1997 sunfire 2.2 5 speed that keeps overheating but i don't it really think it's overheating cause when the gauge is all the way up i can grab the rad hoses no problem there warm but not real hot and when the gauge is up the coolant in the holding tank is still ice cold but hose are hot.also one heater core hose is hot and the other is warm i tried getting the air out several timeswith no luck any tips in bleeding the system or what could be causeing the problem .oh forgot new waterpump in aug 07 new t-stat about a month ago thanks in advance.

Which Rad hose is the warmer one? The one on the top or bottom? This could be early symptoms of a bad Head Gasket...
