99 Civic

All BS aside. I am either buying a Red Ex 99 auto or a 00 white ex manual. I am really interested in the Carbon fiber tails and black housing headlamps(cleared for white). They are talkin 15995 for the red one and 14,979 for white. Or hell I may buy a new one!! But does anybody have pics of their Coupes and what mods they did. Or just things they think i should do. Im trying to stay legal(exterior things) so maybe greddy. But their is a hell of alot loop holes in our Indy law. But im not going FI. Cause im just tryin to up my stk HP and TQ( what are the numbers). so i wont be that slow!!:D :D :D

The neon srt-4 is a very very nice and fast car. me personally i wouldnt choose that for the money you are spending. have you test drove the ford focus SVT? its an awesome car no matter what ppl say about american cars and espically FORD. I would say look at those but if you are set on getting a civic by all means look for an SI! you can get really nice Si's for that kind of money. Your not a very smart person if your going to spend that money for an EX auto. Thats just plain stupid. The SVT is sooooo much car for the money. Just drive up to a ford dealership near you and just try it. Trust me you will have a ball driving it. My dad loves the car and he is looking at WRX Sti's, LAncer Evo (when it comes out), Rx8 (when it comes out), and hes seriosuly thinking aobut the 350z or infiniti Q35 coupe. With all those great cars he said he LOVES the SVT. GIVE IT A TRY! and hell try one of those neons why your at it!

I used to drive pizzas with my stick shift honda, used to put 120 miles a day in traffic, my legs started lookin like arnold schwarzeneger, i got sick and tired and bought a nice fuckin Maxima wiht leather seats and all goodies for 900 bucks, automatic.... after 2 days guess what? I put it up for sale. Automatics are boring, useless unless ure 80 years old, hell when im 80 i'll still be switchin gears if i dont crash till then :D:D:D

theres diffently someting better about you moving your car as opposed to your car moving you :grey:

before i had a digital camera my was lowered just about 3 to 4 inches on coil overs, but the ride sucked ass since i had cheap ones and stock shocks. i like the looks of the car, speed helps but its not the end of the world since i have an auto. some car owners think that a shitty car can beat any auto just cuz its a stick.
i understand with mods a stick is the best way to go but auto are good too.

Did u know that your auto trans is sucking away somewhere between 10-15% of your horsepower, cuz the engine has to do extra work just to build up the needed pressure inside yo tranny? So instead of you doing so little work pressin da clutch and shifting a lever, u lose 15% HP right off the bat. Your stupidity has no limits man

as for the ORIGINAL discussion, i think both are not very good deals. i bought a 97 EX two years ago for 10,000. I think you should be paying around the same price for a 99 (maybe 1-2k higher). i also agree that you should look into getting an Si. they have custom interior, power features, and smoke any EX you will find. but if i had to pick from one of the two you mentioned, i get the white one. stick is funner in my opinion, EVEN THOUGH MY CIVIC IS AN AUTO, and i think white would look nicer with the mods you are considering. good luck, let us know what happens! :D

it has already been said that two cars of equal power and weight but with auto and stick trannies race eachother, the stick will always win. this is true my friends no matter how consistent the auto may be. yah a car could be consistent in times but that could also mean consistent 18's in the quarter mile:bloated:
not to mention that stickshift is cheaper, easier to maintain, lasts longer, easier to mod, and puts out better times then any auto tranny. yes Benz's have very good auto trannies, in fact the best in the market (made by ZF, very good company) but we're not talking about benz's. yah my cousins bmw 540 auto would destroy any civic i know of and your moms benz too. its got 18's too:D but thats a bimmer. this is a HONDA forum so lets stay on topic. fact is no matter what auto tranny you have, you can not launch the car at a high enough rpm without severely damaging internal components all over the car not just the tranny. plus autos have a heavier driveline and create more unsprung AND sprung weight. i hope you guys know what those are. so any way you slice it, auto may be cool for cruising, but will never beat a manual in a race. and im not saying a stock stickshift civic could beat an auto lexus IS300 for one example, but it could beat other automatic civics with similar if not more modding done to them. get my drift.

First, edman24, thanks for better explaining my point bro, all of hte things u said are true about manual automatic and so on....

second, i also agree with Emerge to some extent, even tough he practically dissed everyone by saying that no intelligence was present from looking at these posts.... i agree with the fact that this discussion should have never happened, that the differences between auto/manual are so damned obvious that its pointless bringing the theme up again. But some people's stupidity simply pisses me off, comments like "emilio has a manual thats why hes the fastest" or "cuz i have an auto im ricey". thats not what i was trying to say at all, but people dont understand basic concepts.

third, as edman24 said, lets stay on topic, this is about CIVICS not benz's or BMW's. Those cars have enuff power to be able to afford to put in an auto tranny, and not worry about loss of HP. Also, the targeted market is that of older wealthier people for the most part, who would also like to have some luxury in their sports car.... Now CIVICS are neither luxurious, nor cruising cars to me. They are either for groceries or for the poor college student who likes simplicity and reliability and also likes to experiment and maybe go a little faster. CIVICS are not powerfull at all, and all the extra HP u can get u NEED. U know, ppl put in air intakes and exhausts to get some miserable 2-3 hp, and yet they have an auto tranny that kills 10-15% of the HP at the wheels. It just defeats the purpose, unless of course u need a grocery-getter. And if u want cruisin, why dont u get a cadillac then or somethin?
I hope this finally makes more or less sense to EVERYONE, and puts an end to all flaming in this thread

you just said it yourself, the standards only good if you race, what if you dont race, then an auto is perfect, like it was mentioned before, if your only going show then an auto is perfect. if you dont race then an auto is better than a standard.
