Spaying Testors Enamel

A friend of mine is finishing a 'Cuda in Sublime Lime and the only paint he has ready access to is Testors Spray paint.

I normally only shoot Tamiya laquers but I know that the Testors is "Softer".
I've seen good paint jobs done with that paint but how do you guys buff if out, can you clear or apply wax over it?

He's already tried buffing and waxing only for the job to turn into a foggy mess. Help:tongue:

And ALL Testors lacquers are designed as 2-component paints, base coat (color) followed by clear. The colors don't have the correct gloss even when polished, compared to polished clear. Use Testors or Tamiya TS clear lacquer.

Ok, how long should he wait for before buffing?

As for the lacquer MM range the only thing we have seen here is the new Metalics and the clear. Is this the same range you are talking about?

If you're using enamels, the curing period is very long, somewhere around atleast a month. In fact, I have a model I built about a year and a half ago and I can still smell the solvents being released from the paint. Is there some reason you can't buy paint online? There are so many easier/better paints to be used out there, most of them can be shipped to your door if you order online.

Up here in Canada I'm always worried that the paint might freeze during transit. That's why I only mail order during the warmer months.

As for myself, I mainly do Formula 1, Indy or leMans cars. Who has a good selection of Lacquer race colours in the US. I Know of Hiroboy's paints but it has to come from Japan.

I really doubt that paint would freeze in transit, it may get darned cold but surely not frozen. I tend to shy away from any Testors or MM product and understand that the NEW paint still utilizes those cans that spray ever so crappily.

I used to use the testors sprays, but got tired of the poor spray from them. I had decent results by warming the cans under warm water before use. I do like how the tamiya cans spray better. You can polish out the testors. I hve also cleared over it as well with tamiya clear. Here are a few of my builds using testors sprays. All have been polished out. The Cuda has been cleared as well
