Fuel gauge

Hey the fuel gauge in my 97 GP SE is busted. Says it's full 24/7. Anyone know how to fix it easily and fairly cheaply? Thanks in advance

most likely the sending unit. not really a DIY job if you have no automotive experience. not really gonna be a cheap fix either :uhoh:

Actually, these cars have an access door in the trunk which makes changing the fuel pump easier than most cars. You have to be careful that you have plenty of ventillation for the fuel vapors (you don't want to blow yourself up). The hardest part is getting the module seated back in the hole when reinstalling it.

Don't forget we have a nice thread at Tips & Maintenance to give her an idea of the work involved. :wink: See link below. Maybe she has a friend, boyfriend or hubby that is DIY capable to reduce the cost. :dunno: The fuel level sending unit can be replaced without replacing the whole fuel pump pod. Less than $100 providing labor is DIY. Available from an AC Delco parts supplier as a kit.
