Fuel filter/green clip problems

So, changing my fuel filter on my 98 chevy malibu v6. My lines were rusted up and everything but I got them clean. I was able to undo the outlet side of the fuel filter, you know remove it. But I'm having trouble on the clip on the other side. I see no clip on the inlit side of the filter except one small metal clip about the size of a ink-pen tip, I tried prying it open and pushing it down but the fuel filter still isn't coming off. It may or may not be original filter, I'm thinking it is original though. Any help would be of great help.

I just did this job today. The clip has two sides that need to be squeezed to get it to release. I was only able to see one side, but there is two.
