Low coolant light blinking (continued)

i am resurrecting an old thread (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=171233) that i saw back in the forum. i was wondering if anything was found out about this

i have the same problem on my '99 GT w/ 70K on it. the coolant light will be off for a week, then outta nowhere it will start blinking, and sometimes stay solid.

this has been going on for apx. 2 years now, and i have kinda grown into it. but after reading a few threads in the last post, i got kinda worried.

i changed the sensor in the coolant bay...not once, but twice, also flushed the coolant, and changed T-stat. still does the same thing

used my dads scanner to see if it throws any codes, but there were none.

i guess if the car has been doing it for 2 years now, and it still runs excellent...theres not much to worry about. just wanted to know if any of you have some idea's. Thanks guys n girls

There are two sensors, one is located on the radiator and the temp sensor is located in the area of the themostat housing. The one on the radiator is the sensor you want to change. Also sometimes the sensor will corrode and the light will come on. I would remove the sensor and clean it or replace it again if that is the one you changed eariler.

well...i disconnected the sensor, and it hasent turned on since then. I'll prolly just leave it disconnected. its not like i really need a low coolant light anyways. I'll let you guys know what happens. thanks...very much appreciated

Good. That is best thing to do for now and monitor it for a period of your choice. Longer the better. If the low coolant light happens to come on or flash with it disconnected then the problem is forward back to the instrument panel (IP). Could even be the electrical connector and/or wiring to the IP. If after this period it does not comes on then the low coolant module is the problem or a condition within the cooling system is causing it to turn on.

I would suggest protecting the unplugged connector from the elements with some electrical tape or something, especially since you live in the snow belt and it will be subjected to road salt. No sense creating your own new issue later.
