I took a factory radio out of a 2004 cavalier and ws trying to put it into a 97. I got power to it but the unit will not power on. I have 4 wires im unsure of two purple wires black/white and brown/white.

The 2004 Radio uses a Class 2 circuitry to wire into the 2004 Cavalier, So I'm not totally sure how you'd wire that into a 97 Cavalier that doesn't have Class 2 circuitry. I'd recommend going with an aftermarket deck which should hook right up, but that's me.

Some GM radios have a theft lock system that will refuse to work after being removed. I'm not totally sure how it works, but it might be something to check into.
