Pulled my driver's door handle off

Be careful if your doors are frozen shut. The other day I came out to my truck and accidentally set off my alarm. I went to open the door so I could start the truck and it wouldn't budge. I gave a good tug and the handle came off in my hand:mad:. I replaced the handle, $54 from the dealer:mad: :mad: but at least they had it in stock , and noticed that the metal lever had failed, not the plastic. So what do you think, strong plastic or shitty metal?

as you found the dealer had this in stock.. this item is a high failure componet that provides some profit. designed to fail..be careful with the interior handles as these are extremely fragile........with engine off use silicone to lube the rubber this reduces the ability of ice to get a firm grip.........

Also, if a door is frozen shut, put your shoulder into it and push it inward as much as possible before pulling out. It breaks a lot of the ice and you don't have to pull nearly as hard.

And yeah, those handles break a lot. People around here tend to crawl across from the other door rather than replace it. Drives me crazy when I have to get in those.

There was no way it was budging. I tried from the inside and it was like it was welded.:banghead:
I could've saved 20 bucks buying it online but it was worth it to be able to fix it immediately.
I know the inside handle is a joke. I know a couple of people who broke those.

WD40 works great for deicing also...had to use it quite often to be able to get my key in the lock of my utility shell when I lived in the cascades in Washington
