I ended up buying the 79 z28 i mentioned not too long ago. Great car so far only a few problems I've had to work on. Although there is a strange noise when i drive it that sounds like the brakes are rubbing...any ideas?...I've decided I'm not doing any internal engine mods until it comes time for me to swap in a 4 speed manual like the car used to be once i find one but what are some good ways to make some horsepower in the mean time?

does it kinda of surge when you apply the brake or when you are driving? Could have warped rotors. Is it disc all the way around or disc up front and drum in the back, you might need to adjust the rear drums or parking brake might be sticking.

Good luck man

i figured out the problem. i pulled the brakes apart to get a better look and the shafts on the cylinder inside the drum that pushes the pads out is bent on both sides so the pads are all misaligned and a chunk of one of the pads is missing where it got caught on something...so i'm going to have to buy some new cylinders...everything else looks find except the one pad
