Aftermarket Voltage Gauge Help

i have the 2 prong voltage gauge....i have the positive from the back of the gauge running to the positive post on the back of the alternator...i have the negative from the gauge running to the negatice wire thqat goes into the harness for the alternator...do i have
this hooked uo right?

No, the negative goes to a ground.
