I have just bought this car. I owned one many years ago and kicked myself for getting rid of it. This on came at the right price so here we go. The kid never had this problem when he had it. Cold this morning went out and started it. Ran (at idle) for 5 minutes then died. Started and died instantly. Left it cool down and started again. Then died after about 5 mins again. Did same as above. Cool down started it again and ran fine for an hour or so. Cooled down started and ran for 5 mins again. Coil? Fuel pump? Help please

Here is an update. It seems that if when it starts to die out I feather the throttle it never dies. It is occuring on a more regular basis now. Once it is at operating temp it doesnt do it and it runs GREAT. So I feel this elliminates the spark aspect of it due to the throttle feather. Now onto fuel and air. New airfilter, you can hear it sucking air thru the factory air box when its running. Once it dies and you continue to try to start it you can smell raw fuel. Sometimes it will start and belch out a cloud of carbon and starts. No check engine light at all. So.... We have air spark and fuel so then that leaves???? Any suggestions? :banghead:

Got it figured out. It started doing it all the time so it was easy to find then. It was all in the distributor.

Just curoius, which part of the distrubutor did you replace to fix it?

I have a friend with 95 Civic Si that is having the same problem. The engine cranks and trying to start but just dies. He was racing with someone and the car died during a race.
