first of all any help is greatly appreciated. i built a 1969 chevy 350 {in a c-10} when i was 15 it has shaved heads complete rebuild. it has 10:1 pistons. and a brand new weind stealth intake, not tuned { i hear it should still run dec ent} holley 650 carb. a 1984 chevy hei dist. with new cap and rotor. everything from top two bottom is brand new. here is the problem. i bought a lunati cam that has an advertised duration of 310 deg. at .5 lift... the truck has absolutely no power on take off it falls on its face. i have too rev the engine too about 3000 rpm to move once i reach 4000 i finally have a little power. i read several articles that said my cam is too big. is that a possibility? any help pleaasseeee!!!!!:banghead:

That sounds like a heck of a lot of duration for a heavier vehicle intended for street use.

I think a milder grind is in order. Try to favour mid range torque, especially if you have an automatic trans with a stock or near stock converter. Your truck will be much faster.

Sounds too big. Off hand I would guess that with your other parts you would want to stay under a 292 duration cam. Probably well under if most of the other parts are stock.
