1991 Voyager no start

My 1991 voyager will not start. It worked yesterday, but now I turn the key. All the gagues and lights come on along with the open door alarm, but starter and solenoid do not engauge. There is no power drop as if the starter were jamed, and no other sound. Where should I start. I have access to the fuses but no idea which one does what.

Easiest thing to do right away is tap the starter with something as you turn the key. Still nothing?

Get a set of jumper cables and jump start the van. If it fires up, I'd say your battery is suspect. Panel lights turning on is not an indication of a good battery. It takes much more power to turn the starter. Add cold weather and your battery has to work even harder. If the battery connections are clean and tight get the battery charged and have them perform a load test. It will reveal a bad battery.

Tried this. Also turned on the lights and turned the key. The lights did not dim. Makes me think I might have a fuse, relay or solenoid that has gone bad. I don't know where the solenoid is nor which relay to check. Is it one under the hood or a fuse under the dash? I don't think it's the fuseable link, because the engine should still turn over with it blown. That would just stop it from continuing to run after you release the key.

Do you know where I can get a list of the fuses and relays and their location?

You should be able to test the starter by using the starter relay. If there is a relay pack and your not sure which one, look at the wiring colors. red with yellow stripe--- brown--- yellow--- black with yellow stripe. If you run B+ to the terminal for the brown wire, using a jumper, the starter should crank. If you try this, make sure the tranny is in park or neutral and the e-brake is set.

Unplug the starter relay, turn on the key, just till the dash-lites come on, use the jumper. The vehicle may start, again, make sure the tranny is out of gear. You could also check for hot circuits at the relay connector, with the key turned to crank. Whatever tests you try, be careful.

I wanted to add, if the vehicle starts using the jumper, just remove the jumper, the jumper is only used to crank the starter.
