low heat

I have a 95 camry and I have been experiencing heat issues.
The heat comes out but it takes a long time to heat the inside the vehicle.
I was looking into replacing the heater core but I don't think that is the problem. I replaced the thermostate and the rad. last summer thinking that might be it but it still takes a while to heat up the cabin. If i keep the heat switch on hi it never get warm but if I click it back once it warms up the cabin inside. Could someone help me on fixing this heat issue. :smile:

In the Camry string (first page) you will find "Factory Manuals" that cover this year of Camry. Look thru that and you will probably find the problem. Sounds like the ducting doors that direct the air flow are not working correctly.

I looked where you said and there is nothing showing heat ducks or heat and cooling.

This is apples and oranges to an extent but, recently on my 87 I fixed a nagging heat problem just before I sold it. My heat went from intermittent to none over a couple years. Then I noticed if I held the temperature slide switch up or down (normally slides left/right), I'd get blasted with heat. Let go - no heat. First I sprayed contact cleaner in the switch slot on the control panel. It helped a bit. A month ago, I removed the climate control panel and proceded to dissamble it. I found and resoldered a number of bad solder joints on a circuit board the connector was soldered to. Put it all back together and it worked great. It also fixed blinking panel lights. Sold it two weeks later.

You could see a blend door actuator move behind the center console far forward near the firewall when you slide the temp slider switch.

What temp rating stat did you use?

I replaced with the oem I believe it was 185 deg.

With the engine warmed up and the heat turned on, can you feel a temp difference between the inlet and outlet heater hoses? I'm wondering if the core could possibly be clogged.

I have a '93 with a similar low heat symptom. The heat works best if the fan is on low. With the fan up high it blows colder. Makes me think either the core is partially clogged or the heater valve is faulty. I read somewhere that disconnecting the valve and running a hose in reverse direction through the core can flush things out and restore good heat. Haven't tried it.
