XJ-220 Taillights

This is the problem: how can I achieve a good finish on these lights?

With other cars I always spray or brush (depending on size) the clear red or orange on the back of the lights in several thin layers. With these lights I'm not sure what to do: spray/brush all three colors from the back or the front or a combination of the two.

I would really like to hear the opninion of you guys on what you would do.

I suggest, mask off the red and spray clear orange from the front. Mask the orange and spray the red, then mask both and apply the black. There are a couple of disadvantages of painting these types of lights from the rear, gluing them is a problem, even with compatible adhesives like Kristal Klear coz they still attack the paint. Plus sometimes they don't look right when it's the lenses that should be coloured and not paint applied behind the lens [does that make sense:confused: ].

That was also my first idea, do everything from the front for a change.

I've heard that some people use clear paint to atach the lights.
I didn't try it myself yet.

uses pva(wood glue) to fix my lights inplace doesn't matter if light are painted or not as it sticks them in place n it drys clear

That's also what I use, I even thin the glue a bit with water and I usually have to apply a tape or so to keep the lights in place untill the glue is dry.


PVA is also verry good to use on dioramas. I thin the glue with water untill I can use an old hairspray bottle to spray it on the diorama so all the dust, rocks, .... stick to the diorama.
