new gremlins, easy fix i hope?

New to the grand Prix, bought last night with a few problems. The driver seat does not heat, the light for low and high turns on with the switch but no heat, is there a fuse somewhere that might control this? Also, the Electro chromic auto dim rear view mirror does not work. I think it should have a light on it when i press the "auto dim" button on the bottom that lights up green (or so i heard from another grand Prix GT owner) but i have nothing. Is there something seperate that controls this as well? All other electronics work fine (HUD, power seat, lumbar, DIC, rear defrost, CD player, DRL, etc...). I was thinking maybe its the ignition switch but since all other electronic goodies work maybe not.

Also, the radio display pretty much turns out when the head lights turn on (still displays fine in the HUD though). During the day, its lit fine and very visible but when i turn on the headlights it fades out completly and it doesn't seem like the radio or HVAC controls are that bright despite being turned all the way up. And the light behind the right most side of the HVAC control is out (this is the automatic dual zone electronic climate control unit). so the "defrost" text on the display is not lit, nor is the blue swoop to the right of the passenger temp. knob. Can this be replaced at all?

so these little goodies in addition to a strong smell of coolant with the heat on and a leaking UIM/LIM are all on my plate before it hits the road. I'm going to put some BARS in it tonight to stave off complete failure until the weather warms enough here in ID for the big gasket repair job. Let me know, thanks for your hel

It would help to post the year, engine and trim level (SE, GT, GTP) of your car as there are differences. The radio/dashlight issue sounds like a bad headlamp/interior dimmer switch, as they work fine until the headlamps are turned on. The bulbs inside the HVAC unit are replaceable, but the part number varies from year to year.

sorry, this is on a 2000 grand prix GT. is the headlight dimmer switch hard to replace?
