Just had my first attempted break into my truck, see my post "Door Stuck". Thinking of a security system, nothing fancy, I don't want any charred bodies next to my truck when come out from work or anything like that. Any suggestions out there on good system for the buck:2cents: ?

As stupid as it may sound, just leave it unlocked, assuming you take valuables out. One broken window costs as much as a new radio, cigarette lighter, and whatever change you have in the console. The real damage is done when they try to break in, and short of having charred bodies there's nothing to prevent trying to break in. You could join the NRA, they give you free window stickers... that may deter a few people :)

I'm not bragging, really I'm not, but my truck is a good looking truck for its age. I still has the original bright red paint, unusual for an early 90's Chevy and it is completely stock (for now). Regular cab with the stepside bed and the "Heartbeat of America" written with the pin striping on the back fenders. I love it and don't have any plans on getting rid of it. But dang these trucks have more security flaws than MicroSoft's Windows software.

Todays vehicles are a pain to install an alarm for the average person but if you have access to good wiring diagrams and the patience of a saint it can be done at home.:banghead:
