NSW wheels on a GOLF!!! this is going to be killer looking!

02-24-2003, 12:50 PM
No offence, but the wheels seem a tad bit big for the body. I'd suggest removing the bridgestone potenza decals. If the wheels aren't glued together, you could try flipping them for us (put the decals on the inside) to get a better idea.
As for paint, I'd recommend metallic black with white decals. Which would look good with the Potenza decals if you don't want to remove them.

Hey another Dutchie here!
Looks great so far.. only the tires seem to be a bit large for the fenders..
For paint you can go to Halfords and look for duplicolor paint, and don't forget to get a nice can of Plastic primer or duplicolor will meld the body. Duplicolor has a nice range of colors and is about the same price as tamiya cans, but has more paint in it so you can spray more.

Stefan
BTW. where in Holland do you live..?

I just completed that Mobil 1 NSX...
You do realize there are 2 steering wheels, and 8 disk brakes in the kit, right? So the only things you are stealing from the kit are the fire extinguisher and the rims and tires. If I was in your shoes, I wouldn't mess up the Mobil 1 for a set of rims and tires.
I'm thinking of buying a die-cast from Wal-Mart for some rims and tires. There's a few models that have 2 sets of rims and tires.
I don't know, I just couldn't justify wrecking the Mobil 1 for a set of rims and tires.
I assume the rear wing is the bonus wing that was in the Mobil 1 kit as well? I don't know what I'm going to use mine on. Could have a pretty fun car in the future.

No pics, no digital camera\scanner.
It's the last model I've done in a pretty long list, but I hadn't been to this site before doing it, so I missed out on the body polishing details. The engine and interior are well detailed, albeit without wiring.
I plan to do a transition model right now, where I'll practice polishing. I'm going to use Future floor wax applied with a soft foam brush. Not sure how well it'll work.

Nice work on the Golf so far. I'm doing a similar thing to mine, except I'm using the wheels from the Tamiya Porsche 911 GT1, as they are a little smaller and suit the car better. I've also widened the arches too.
D[X]P, I wanted a Jetta...so I converted a kit! In fact I'm making the exact car that's in your Avatar. Pics in the future.

D[X]P, in answer to your question, I'm using the Fujimi Mk 3 Golf kits. There's a new VR6 version that has come out. It means cutting off the rear and extending it to make it into a saloon.
For the wheels for that particular car (TFATF Jetta), I'm using the Fujimi Yokohama Model 7 wheels. They are unfortunately too small so I'm having to modify them aswell!

but if you wan't to lower it just cur out a part of the spring and glue it together.
the paint for the chassis no paint :D some parts are spraied matt black
