hi. i have a 98 lumina 3.8. 4 dr, auto, 80,000 miles. clunking in rear over bumps. checked bearings, replaced complete rear strut assemblies and mounts, checked rim, and still the problem is there. i was told an idea about Track Arm or Trailing Arm...anyone know what this is and if sounds like next thing to look at? Car is not all over the place when driving it. just horrible clunking in rear when going over bumps, slopes, etc. Been like this almost 2 years. WOuld appreciate any imput. thank you!!

btw...the sound is exactly that of a broken strut.

Trailing arm is the bracket (arm) that connects the rear hub to the uniframe rail. Kind of looks like a long dog bone, has rubber bushings at each end.
Could be loose exhaust system causing noise also. Had this on my '93.

Check your sway bar mounts. They tend to rust and break aprat causing a knocking/baning noise when hitting bumps.

Sway bar links and/or sway bar bushings would be all you have left to look at...
