Vr-4 AWD to RWD?

I know someone is going to get angry at me for even asking, but keep in mindm, that's why I am asking first.
Is there a way to set the transmission and engine and blah blah blah up to be able to switch between rwd and awd, much like on some SUV's?
I typically only rebuild for show, but I was pondering seeing if I can set one up this way, but before I even attempt it (as I dont do a lot of work myself, I just get certain things, and design others, and let someone else to the actual work. I would rather a professional than I) I figured I would ask, and see what others think.

I know you may not know, but how much extra weight are we talking? The 3kgt is already a heavy car, and if it takes on much more weight, it would be a very bad idea.

It's a bad idea to begin with. Short answer, you can't do it. It's been done, but if you're asking then theres a pretty good chance you can't do it.

yeah that was not the smartest question but to help you out if you want a rwd car with over 300hp get a firebird almost look as good but it's rwd and has more tq. or you can always get a supra (kind of plain looking thats just me i'm guessing), camaro, 300ZX, and if you don't care about having over 300 hp an rx-7. Of course thats only from the 90s. :grinno:
why do you need a 3000GT to be rwd for a show car? i thought show cars just sat there and looked pretty (sometimes ulgy if done wrong:banghead:).

it's not a bad question or concept. The idea of having the choice of AWD for performance and RWD for fun is something i'm sure everyone would want. But the fact is, for the time and money it would take, you're better off buying a second car, like one of those zryder mentioned^. Have your VR4 for AWD and your w/e for RWD. It will be much cheaper and simpler.

RWD thats a great idea for a show car, considering most people will probably say something like oh I thought there were all AWD or RWD anyways whats the big deal, and might as well convert to a right hand drive as well, oh and while you are maxing out your credit cards, might as well buy a ton of carbon fiber parts.
Im just messing with you but seriously rwd is such a waste of time and money for our cars, also fwd 3KGT have reached the 10 second 1/4 mile category with some twins just keep that in mind....

here is some goor reading material for you. You will see that our AWD system is nothing like the 4x4 system like your referring to, with a lever to switch between 2wd and 4wd.
EDIT: oops, forgot the link! :loser:

Thanks for the great responses guys. As someone else said, I was curious as it would be something different, and slightly unusual to be able to switch back and forth. And in show, that would equate better points, if done well and such. But, after seeing the responses and looking into it more, I think you peoples are right. It's just not a good idea.
Something else I was pondering, while I am here. Single large turbo versus the twins. Looking around I get mixed information. Some places say a single large turbo is better than the twins. True or not?
thanks again

Generaly Singles are better but 3kgt people have had better luck with twins.. as far as the numbers go.. A lot of it is that its a V6 as instead of a strate 6..

only ppl that have luck with singles are supras. As posted on 3si today, the fastest 3/s, skilines, and pro cars are all running twins.
Yes you can switch it to RWD, costly and makes your car SLOWER. You CAN NOT have it so you can switch back and forth like an SUV.

wtf you talking about. Thats all in turbo choice. just switching to single is not going ot give you less boost lag.

Depending on the size of the single turbo determines the lag also compression, displacment, engine power, but basically twins are generally easier to work with, in our V setup. Single turbos are possible in our platform but twin turbos just seem to be more cost effective and work great with the awd setup.
RWD is pointless, might as well bought a supra. Thats like buying a corvette, and saying fuck ls1 I need me a K20 motor, thats really unique!

YEA, HOMIE!!
A small single turbo spools up just as quickly as a moderate twin upgrade.
It depends what you're looking to get out of the car, whether or not it's worth it for you to go single or upgrade the twins.

actually, if you price it out... a single turbo set up will generally be less expensive... you only have to buy one turbo, less piping, easier to swap in and out, etc.
But twins are easier for most people, and tried and true.

For performance, maybe, but you lose HP in the drivetrain, and a damn good launch with AWD.
Show, I doubt anyone will know the difference other than a 3S owner. I go to car clubs every weekend and you'd be suprised how illiterate some people are.
IMO, I would only go RWD in my FWD, if I really had a reason to.
