Getting ready to burn this car or shoot myslef.
I have replaced the MAF, MAP, Fuel Filter, PCV Valve, upgraded Wires, Insured proper Gap in new plugs, visually checked for firing from each plug, Cleaned K&N Air Filter, looked for cracks in the intake, used intake cleaner, 92 octane shell fuel + syntetic additative/fuel injector cleaner. Removed Catalyic Converter put in resonator replaced O2 sensor with simulator. 2001 V6 5 speed
Car runs great in traffic. EXCEPT when I coast to a traffic light my RPM bounces from around 600 -1000 and it seems as if it is loosing power and going to cut off. It doesnt do it when I am at a stop sign or traffic light only when the car is out of gear coasting. This problem was the reason why I changed everything listed above and it still happens. It used to be more severe by sometimes stalling but now it seems to have improved slightly. Seems to be loosing power or starving for air. The only thing I can think to replace is the IAC Idle Air Control but Autozone told me that my car doesn't have one. Anyone with advise?

For some reason, my car does this once in a while too... I'm kind of interested in seeing if someone has the answer... I thought it was IAC related too but I swapped mine out and it still did the same thing.

Sounds like a ignition module or cam sensor. :dunno:

Where is the cam sensor? I didn't know there was such a thing... Anything in specific that's making you think one of these 2 things?

I don't know about the LT1, but the V6, particulary 3.8's have used cam & crank sensors since 1985 1/2. I think on your LT1 the otpi still has a hall effect type shutter built in to it.
Random little misfires that develope and go away at their own will, especially with heat usually piont to the primary ignition circuit, especially on 3.8's.
EDIT - Ultimately, any DIS (distributerless ignition system) pretty much uses them.

I took my Camaro down to the Chevrolet dealership. The service tech was initally stumped. So he put me in contact with the Corvette tech who happens to own a Z28 Camaro. He said that when the car is in motion and in neutral that the idle will fluctuate because the computer still sees the wheels moving and as soon as the vehicle stops the idle levels off. Which is EXACTLY what happens to me. He said that it happens to him and that it is the nature of the beast. Hope this helps.
p.s. The world MUST be coming to an end soon because I did not have to pay anything to the dealership!!
