timing setting on a vw jetta 2003 ALH

Hi to everyone.
I have a vw jetta 2003 engine code ALH and have recently change my timing belt.I need to know how to set the correct injection timing for the pump.And if i need a dial gauge wher to find it.Engine is making a little bit of noise than normal.My friend have a vw jetta that has damage a piston.It looks like it was hamering with a hammer and a punch.
