I would bet it has probably been asked a thousand times, but...

I am new to the forum and couldn't find it. And yes i searched first. i am currently looking into swapping my motor, and was wondering if a 2.2 L4 2200 is replaceable with an LD9 (2.4 L L4), and what kinds of mods will be required. oh and btw, i own a 2000 pontiac sunfire coupe.

Motor, transmission, and engine wiring harness with ECU all from the 2.4L. You could also do an ecotec swap too with just what i mentioned above.

Yep and if you put a 2.4 in, BABY IT, or build the internals, I have been through 4 of the motors in under 40,000KMs.............they will not take any beating you give it.

I still think you're just very unlucky, I beat the hell out of my original 2.4L with 130,000 miles on it, that only went out cause well the oil was completely dry (I know I know I'm already beating myself up over it still a year later). I still beat the one I got in it now but I'm sure to maintain it properly and the motor itself has given me zero problems.
But if you're already going into the trouble of swapping, I'd say go with an Ecotec.

Both are great motors actually. and if you have been through 4 motors in 40,000 km's you are doing something way way wrong. I ran a 2.4 in a stock car and beat the living fuck out of the engine. it was completely 100% stock with 190,000 miles on it before I made it a hornet. the engine ran when I sold it after 2 seasons of racing.
2.4 has alot of good options but pretty much a dead motor as far as new parts the eco is new so where there might not be as much knowledge there is a good aftermarket for the engine

actually looked into it and researched further, realized that if i am going to do a swap, why not put a 3400 in there. found help for that on JBO.

Where is the writeup on the 3400 swap? I have been looking into it and might do it.
