Just check all 8 cylinders, if you got a bad one it'll be lower than all the others.
thats what we did for my friends 305 anyways, it worked, we had 6cyl's at 125 psi and 2 at about 90-95psi. its fairly evident which cyl will be good and bad when you write out all the numbers

If you find a bad one put some oil in the sparkplug hole and retest. If the pressure jumps it indicates bad rings. If it doesn't it indicates a leaking valve.
Compression depends a lot on wear but the previous post was in the ball park. I usually got around 135 to 150 on my own engines.
If you get one real low check for a cracked or broken valve spring.
