My 98 Chevy Metro (Suzuki Swift) has no acceleration when it’s cold. If I come to a stop and then start to take off it crawls until it gets some speed built up. Once it warms up, in a couple of miles, it takes off like a rocket.

It does intermittently run rough at a stop light sometimes, but not all the time.

It’s not setting any codes and my mechanic doesn’t have a clue, can anyone help?

Well since no one else left one Ill throw in my 2 cents.. I had a old cavalier that did this but it was all the time winter, or summer it didnt make a difference, And it was awful it was an automatic, and it kept stalling.. but it did do the creeping thing your talking about were it would eventually pick up speed. Its sitting now because it had way way way to many problems, but anyways I was told to check my fuel filter, spark plugs, and air filter before anything else, and when I did the spark plugs looked awful they hadnt been changed in forever, so you could start with those if you havent already they are cheap to replace anyways:runaround:

The bad when cold/fine when hot thing makes me suspect a temperature sensor. There's one for the intake air and another for coolant. Bad electrical connections, especially grounds, often cause trouble that comes and goes. Unplug and replug everything you can find, loosen ground bolts and retighten them.

If it's an auto maybe it is stuck in third until it warms up.
