Car is mostly ready to go... got the new wheels/tires on it and back on the ground.

Still need to install the sparco steering wheel... will install the new shocks (fresh Konis), higher rate springs, and re-allign/balance after the first NASA event at VIR in a few weeks.

Brian;
You've put in a lot of work to get your ride ready for the track. Lookin' good. :iceslolan The car will be night and day with the new shocks and stiffer springs. You'll have to share the differences. Contrast for us, the before handling characteristics and the after.
My car is going to hit the track (auto-X) tomorrow. I can hardly wait.
Next Sunday is the first track day, much more time on track. Get the car sorted. I really wish I hard that rear sway bar. I would crvie it for a couple of sessions disconnected, and then connect it to feel the difference. But that s not meant to be for the first time on track.

^ Which allignment settings did you end up going with? I just got done reading "How To Make Your Car Handle" so I'm full of ideas and things to try. I'll get a rear swaybar as soon a Gary figures out how to provide them ;)

... and re-allign/balance after the first NASA event at VIR in a few weeks.Yes, the car looks great. And I agree, you have done a lot to get this new beast ready. Will this be a HSDE or a race? Good Luck!

Brian;
I went with 6 degrees of caster, -2.75 degrees of camber and 1/16" toe. After the auto-X I can't say one way or the other if that's a good set up. I'll be able to tell more after next weeks track day. I can say that the car has decent mechanical grip, and when you lift turning into a corner, the rear of the car rotates nicely. Turn in was good, and I don't think there was a lot of body roll. In the slow corners (pivot cones) I could generate rotation will throttle application.
I didn't push the car hard since I was on old Pirelli rubber. Slicks will help my confidence in the fast corners. The Pirelli's were progressive and gave good indication of when they were loosing grip. Again, I was not pushing it too hard in the high speed stuff.
Brakes are pretty good, maybe not as much bite as the Vette. The brakes are linear, and lock up is easily modulated. What's your impression? Maybe it's just a power brake vs. manual brake difference. I'm still running the old PFC pads. New pads may have more bite. I'll putin new pads when the shipment from Gary gets in.

Just an HPDE event... my father and I will be running as many HPDEs as money/time allows with this thing... which is why we bought it. Lower maintenance, more cost effective race car (compared to modding and maintaining 2 C5Z06s). Only downside is that we'll have to run in seperate run groups, but I will most likely get my instructor status this year so I can instruct/ride with my father and he can ride with me.

Where'd you get these specs? They sound exactly like what I'd use for my Z06 on a full track allignment.

I found the car to push like a pig when I auto-xed it... also I was at full lock in some of the very very tight turns. The Pirellis sucked, but it was very cold that day back in November.

It was wierd getting used to the manual brakes and I never got into them enough to lock them on the pirellis on the auto-x. I have the stock PFC pads as they were recently replaced. Which compound PFCs are they?
What are you guys replacing them with? I ran Carbotech XP12/XP10 (front/rear) on the vette a few times, but really loved wilwood Hs.
