Headlight switch?

Just took my 89 prelude to be inspected and they told me the tail lights and daytime lights aren't comming on. They say the bulbs are good and its getting power at the fuse, but not at the lights themselves. They told me that it's probly the headlight switch is bad and needs to be replaced. I looked up the part at autozone.com and the part alone is $135, I'm sure I could get it at a local junkyard for ~$10, so I'd rather do this project myself.

Do any of you have any information on where this switch is or how to replace it?

the headlight switch is connected to the stalk that you twist to turn the lights on. its underneath some steering column plastic covers though, either a philips screwdriver or small torx driver (i dont remember which) is needed, plus a little finesse to not break any plastic tabs off.

This doesn't appear to be the problem. What else could cause the tail lights not to come on? all the other lights on the car work fine.

try your dimmer switch if thats not plugged in or broke in any way internally then the parking lights will not work

also the tail lights arent coming on or the stop lights theres two diferent filaments the brake light switch can cause no stop lights hence u slam in the brake and your lights come on as far as your drl you might wanna double check your relays not so much fuses but relays aka the forgotten and sometimes passed up problem

its the tail lights, the break lights work just fine, as do the blinkers and reverse lights. I don't think any lights come on when I'm parked. This is the first prelude I've ever owned, and I don't know if its supposed to have DRL or not. But the mechanic told me my running lights weren't working so I'm guessing it does. I was a little confused by what he meant by the combination switch. It may be the issue, I will go to a junkyard on saturday and get one and see if that fixes it. If no though, im in the dark.

combination switch = headlight switch. its called combination because it also usually controls high beams, turn signals, fog lights, ect. on different cars.
