And was Protar's 956 a good kit?

That picture looks like the Hasegawa 962 with Jaegermeister decals. Protar's kit was not shaped right at all. Especially the roof, windows and nose. It did have opening doors though.

Haven't Tamiya re-edited its 956?

Haven't Tamiya re-edited its 956?
The last one was the Richard Lloyd Racing 956 (Canon livery). I think it was re-released in 2002 or 2003.

The picture shown is definitely a 962 not a 956. The 962 moved the driver back so his feet were even with the front axle line, this causes the side panel between the back edge of the front wheel and the front line of the door opening to be wider on the 962. The 962 nose has less front overhang also. If you compare that pic to a 956(like tamiya's) you'll see the difference.

The protar kit is terrible IMO. Although dimensions look correct the car overall doesn't look correct as 935k3 mentioned. The doors don't fit perfectly either.
