Anyone own a 3.0L / manual transmission?

The idea of the LS with a manual transmission has always intrigued me, and I'm making a list of cars to look at when my wife and I decide to have a baby. How is the 3.0L to drive? I don't mind it being a little underpowered if the driving dynamics are right. Any specific 3.0L / manual trans. issues to watch out for?
